The Nonagenarian of Indian origin now a citizen of Qatar, the Picasso of India, has always been in the news. His creative aspirations and his thoughts have led to many religious as well as political controversies. Yet this great painter whose paintings have fetched 1.6 million dollars and created a record at Christie’s Art Sale goes to show his greatness.
His creativity led him to explore the film industry too. His film, Through the Eyes of a Painter was showcased at the Berlin Film Festival and won him the Golden Bear award. He had also been awarded Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. Stung by the beauty of Madhuri Dixit he made paintings and films with her. Now Vidya Balan seems to have captured his attention. The actress Vidya Balan who has won many accolades for films like Parineeta, Paa and Isqiya has been asked by the painter MF Hussain to pose nude for his paintings.
Close sources to the actress say it is a way of tarnishing the image of an actress who has recently got so many awards. Others are of the opinion that Ekta Kapoor’s The Dirty Picture has a few scenes where she has agreed to expose and that is the reason that gave MF Hussain the thought of making those paintings. Although nudity has been a favourite topic for the painter and he did dare to make a few nude paintings, he got caught in many controversies. Only time will tell how the actress who is busy in New York is going to react and whether paintings of hers will ever be made.
