Leggie lass Kangana Ranaut will be having a lot of fun this summer! She’s been cast by David Dhawan in his latest comedy venture: ‘Rascals’. The film boasts of biggies like Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan. It’s a home production of Sanjay Dutt, who is producing the film along with his wife Manyaata. The need of the hour was a gorgeous female lead and they decided not to look further than Kangana.

This is a welcome change for Kangana Ranaut. She has always been cast in serious, dramatic roles since the initial days of her career. Many of her characters were mentally unstable. Though she hit the high notes some time back with ‘Fashion’, that was again a character that brings about her downfall because of drug abuse. Kangana is very keen to break open this mold and do different types of roles. Her latest film, ‘Kites’ got blown away in a hailstorm of bad reviews with no strings attached.

Sensing that she needed a different track, Kangana Ranaut is now open to light-hearted movies. No more serious stuff for her! She’s signed comedies like ‘No Problem’, ‘Double Dhamaal’ (sequel to the hugely successful ‘Dhamaal’) and ‘Tanu Weds Manu’. Signing on the dotted line for ‘Rascals’ is another move in the same direction.

Kangana Ranaut has not worked with Sanjay Dutt before. But she did work with Ajay Devgan in the film ‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbai’. In fact, that is going to hit the theaters very soon. The film also has Emraan Hashmi (Kangana’s costar in her debut film ‘Gangster’ and ‘Raaz – The Mystery Continues’) and Prachi Desai.This will be an important film for all concerned. None of them have a hit movie to back them. The premise of the film is the underworld of Bombay, the erstwhile Mumbai. It remains to be seen if it can replicate the success of underworld movies like ‘Satya’ and ‘Company’.
